CFPA Microfinance Management Co. Ltd. (“CFPA”) is the largest microfinance institution in China. It was founded in 1996 and was formerly known as the Microfinance Project Department of China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation. It transformed into a corporate entity in 2008 and now provides financial services for China rural markets to better meet the credit needs of rural households. Lionel, the founder of Li Foundation, is an early angel investor of CFPA.
CFPA aims to provide last mile financial inclusion for persons in the rural areas where majority of the loans are used for farming and livestock breeding. Since 2010, it has delivered financial services in 39 counties across 11 provinces and its gross loan portfolio accounted for 53 percent of the total NGO microfinance portfolio in China, to 280 counties across 21 provinces.
The project has demonstrated high sustainability effect with a potential of a high multiplier effect creating an impact on many others.
The book showcases how the participants challenged their limits and conquered the World Marathon Challenge and North Pole Marathon to inspire people to challenge their own limits and pursue their dreams boldly.
The book tells the stories behind the event which saw the largest number of people in history running 1045km round Taiwan in 19 days.
