Not one to miss out on the fun, Li Foundation and SportCares participated in the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (“SCSM”) – Ekiden Relay 2021. In teams of 4, each runner has to complete a 5km Marina Bay run starting from The Float @ Marina Bay and back.
4000 participants who turned up last weekend for this year’s SCSM had their dream come true ever since the last in-person race took place in Singapore two years ago. Their itch to get back to running with like-minded peers like us has never been stronger. This year’s SCSM symbolised Singapore’s gradual recovery from the ongoing pandemic, by bringing back the normalcy of major activities through well thought out planning and enforcement of safe distancing measures.
Three cheers to a good start in bringing sports back. A very big thank you to SportCares for inviting us and we are privileged to be part of an extraordinary team that comprises of national athletes, SportCares – Li Foundation Multisport Program’s participants and youth instructors; and not forgetting the team behind the scene in coordinating and ensuring the smooth running of the event with the organiser.
Let’s look forward till the next Ekiden with more runners and more fun as we continue to believe in ourselves and sport changes lives!
