With the June school holidays upon us, we partnered with SportCares and Triathlon Singapore to bring the SportCares – Li Foundation Duathlon 2022 to over 200 participants from 8 different community partners at the Singapore Sports Hub’s 100 Plus Promenade.
The duathlon consists of two distances, one for the younger children and another for the youths. The children covered a distance of 2.4km by running 800m first, then cycling for 800m and capped it off with another run of 800m. The youths covered a distance of 4km by running 800m, cycling 2.4km and ran another lap of 800m.
It was amazing to have so many SportCares – Li Foundation MultiSport Programme (‘SLFMSP’) community partners and participants come together for this event. What made a difference this year was the participation of the student officers from the Singapore American School Code For All (‘CFA’) service club. Since last year, the CFA community project was launched to provide weekly coding lessons to the students at Persatuan Pemudi Islam Singapura (‘PPIS’) student care centres located in Jurong and Bedok. Moving into the second year now, the student officers and PPIS students have built and maintained a special rapport. All these were made possible as we provided a platform, brought our partners together and integrated them into our ecosystem with our mission in mind: To inspire and impact lives by maximizing everyone’s potential.
Truly a ‘Bring Sports Back’ day for us at SLFMSP while we clocked another milestone as we weathered through the pandemic as ONE nation.
The book showcases how the participants challenged their limits and conquered the World Marathon Challenge and North Pole Marathon to inspire people to challenge their own limits and pursue their dreams boldly.
The book tells the stories behind the event which saw the largest number of people in history running 1045km round Taiwan in 19 days.
