This year, Super League Triathlon (‘SLT’) have partnered with World Triathlon to bring you the Arena Games Triathlon series. On 7th May 2022, the Grand Final of the inaugural Arena Games Triathlon Championship Series took place in Singapore, at Singapore’s iconic Marina Bay Sands.
The SLT Arena Games was born during the COVID- 19 pandemic, and grew from strength to strength last year, drawing a huge audience thanks to its innovative and exciting indoor race concept. Now, with Arena Games Triathlon powered by Zwift, Super League Triathlon and World Triathlon have taken this concept to the next level. In 2022, the Arena Games Triathlon Championship series will be held across three events, in three iconic cities. At the Grand Finale, held in Singapore, the overall winners of the series will be named the first ever Esports Triathlon World Champions!
Prior to the SLT Arena Games, SportCares – Li Foundation MultiSport Programme youths from the NorthLight School had the opportunity to meet with 3 international and 2 local triathletes at the 100plus Promenade. A mini challenge was designed for 2 teams to mingle and have fun! After which, we had a Q&A session that allowed everyone to ask questions with regards to the life of a professional athlete.
On the final day at the SLT, LIF was honored to be part of the Tri-Club Race representing SG team led by team captain, Minister Edwin Tong with 8 other athletes from Team Singapore, SportSG, SportCares, Public Utilities Board (PUB), Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and Singapore Tourism Board (STB). 10 teams of 10 will help their team clock as much distance as possible by taking turns to cycle or run for 8 minutes each on a stationary bike or the treadmill. It was indeed a sight not to be missed despite the wet weather, when all the members and Singaporean supporters cheered and rooted for the SG team. And that is what we call our Singapore Majulah Spirit..!!
An amazing event that brought people together from all walks of life, creating an impact beyond words. Thankful to be part of it and with further easing of community measures as COVID-19 situation stabilizes in Singapore, let’s stay strong and continue to inspire and impact lives!
